An Evening with Bob Baker

2nd June 2017 @ 7:45 pm - 10:30 pm

We are delighted to be able to announce our guest for our June Whoovers will be prolific and acclaimed double Bafta winning and Oscar nominated writer Bob Baker.

Bob’s first contribution to Doctor Who, together with his writing partner Dave Martin, was The Claws of Axos in 1971, followed by The Mutants and The Three Doctors, during the Third Doctor era. For Tom Baker, Bob and Dave wrote The Sontaran Experiment, The Hand of Fear, The Invisible Enemy (for which they created K9), Underworld and The Armageddon Factor; and Bob contributed Nightmare of Eden alone.

Beyond Doctor Who, Bob and Dave created or contributed to a number of very well remembered children’s TV series, including Arthur of the Britons, Sky, King of the Castle, Follow Me and Into The Labyrinth; as well as more adult series such as Z Cars, Public Eye, Target, Shoestring and Bergerac.

Bob’s greatest success has probably been as writer of Aardman’s Wallace and Gromit films – The Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave, The Curse of The Were-Rabbit and A Matter of Loaf And Death, which opens with the death of a character called ‘Baker Bob’!

Bob came to Whooverville 6 in 2015 as a sponsored guest brought by Fantom films, who published his entertaining autobiography, K9 Stole My Trousers, we look forward to welcoming him to the Whoovers group.

Entrance £10 waged, £5 unwaged. All welcome.
